Sunday, Freckles and I met up with our friend Kim for lunch in Corvallis. Then we took a stroll around the park by the river... a nice, warm, sunny day. Felt so good. We've decided to make it a regular thing. Yay!
From Denver, we headed up to Moran, Wyoming for a glimpse of the Tetons with their fresh layer of snow. Here are some of the shots I got the day we arrived. We got up early the next morning and went horseback riding. It was 23 degrees! What a blast!! There's a magpie on the curb saying, "Good Morning!" Lots of horse's asses... The horse ranch life... hot coffee, chewing tobacco and cigarettes, and lots of horses. They have a herd of 130 horses and mules. What fun! Here is a link to the outfit we went with: Grand Teton and Jackson Hole Horseback Riding - Teton Horseback Adventures This is Holly, the mare I rode. She really didn't like having her cinch tightened, but she was a really nice ride. And this is Little Snort and Margaret. Our lovely guide, Georgia. She did a great job. She HAS a great job! I loved riding Holly, she listened to me really well. What a beautiful girl. Georgia took some shots of us ...
The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the Georgetown Loop Railroad . The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride! I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park. Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away. Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June. It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up: The Tetons!
First, a pretty picture of Donnie, taken by Eric while he was lounging on the porch swing. The nanny goat had three kids, one of which did not survive. The other two are now residing with the horses, geese, ducks, and their mama in the pasture. One is quite a bit bigger than the other and he is definitely the trouble-maker of the two. He refused to get his head outta one of the horses' feed buckets and ended up being picked up and thrown, bawling, by said horse. I'm afraid it will take a few more lessons like that for him to learn that he shouldn't oughta do that. Here is Frick. The smaller of the two doesn't have any horns yet. He is very sweet and sociable. He is definitely human-imprinted. He's really vocal, too, and his little maaa is really endearing. This is Frack. They are now about 15-18 inches tall. Very cute. This is Quincy, reacting to the dinner bell. "Ho hum. Guess I have to drag my ass all the way up to the barn so those people can f...
