Tis the Season

Spring is springing up all over the place, and I am SO glad to see it. This has been a long hard winter for me personally.

Now. Who among you does NOT have a picture of yourself as a small child, all dressed up for Easter, with basket in hand, squinting into the sun as your mom looks down at you and says "smile!" I can picture the ones of me right this very minute.

I know there are a lot of people who get all dressed up for Easter church services and such, and they want to capture that in pictures. That's why I'm going to be open on my day off for Easter this year, offering professional studio portraits for the occasion, so you will have a nice 'picture' for your album, instead of the squinting-into-the-sun one we've all seen, or have of ourselves.

After that, I'll be attending the reception for the YAA Photographers Show at the Newport Visual Arts Center in Nye Beach. Hope to see you at one or the other - or both!!

Road Trip! Part Seven: The Rocky Mountains

 The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the  Georgetown Loop Railroad .  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride!  I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away.  Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June.  It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up:  The Tetons!

Marshmallow farm?

On the way home from the Tillamook Forest Center last Sunday, Eric stopped the car so I could snap some shots of what looks like a farm that produces giant marshmallows. We watched the machine that wrapped these giant hay bales in white plastic. Why they do this, I don't know. To keep the hay fresh, perhaps? It is kinda fun to picture these things as giant marshmallows, tho.

Agate Windows

The GraceNotes have been busy lately, singing at assisted living facilities around the county. We have a few more gigs coming up and booking plenty more for summer. Woo hoo! Last Sunday we sang at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, where we found the most interesting windows. Unpolished beach agates are embedded in resin sheets and make up these windows. The texture of the resin makes it look like a watercolor painting. Beautiful! By the way, the GraceNotes have a nice new website . Check it out!
