Coming Around Again

This weekend I was called upon by my friend and fellow photographer to stand in for her at a wedding she'd booked - she had an emergency and couldn't be there for it. It just so happened that I was able to do it, and what a great time it was. The weather was perfect, and the setting also quite beautiful.

I recognized the groom's name on the contract, and wondered if it was the same Jim Hayter that I went to school with. Sure enough!! One of my classmates from Newport High. The families all had a good laugh about that. He looks great, is obviously very happy and married a very kind and beautiful woman named Ronda. They live in Arizona now. My class is having our 30-year (OMG really?? 30 years???) reunion this summer, and I'm looking forward to catching up with some of my other classmates. Jim said he hopes to be there as well. Interesting how things work out sometimes.

Road Trip! Part Seven: The Rocky Mountains

 The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the  Georgetown Loop Railroad .  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride!  I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away.  Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June.  It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up:  The Tetons!

Marshmallow farm?

On the way home from the Tillamook Forest Center last Sunday, Eric stopped the car so I could snap some shots of what looks like a farm that produces giant marshmallows. We watched the machine that wrapped these giant hay bales in white plastic. Why they do this, I don't know. To keep the hay fresh, perhaps? It is kinda fun to picture these things as giant marshmallows, tho.

Agate Windows

The GraceNotes have been busy lately, singing at assisted living facilities around the county. We have a few more gigs coming up and booking plenty more for summer. Woo hoo! Last Sunday we sang at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, where we found the most interesting windows. Unpolished beach agates are embedded in resin sheets and make up these windows. The texture of the resin makes it look like a watercolor painting. Beautiful! By the way, the GraceNotes have a nice new website . Check it out!
