Beach Time

Freckles and I took advantage of the nice weather yesterday for a much-needed romp on the beach. The joy she exhibits when we're there is just infectious. She smiles the whole time and makes me smile and laugh. Just what the doctor ordered!
These holes in the rock are from Piddock Clams. They are everywhere on the beach but I still find them fascinating.
Of course, there are tons of shorebirds there, including crows, which are actually beautiful birds, tho I know they can be a nuisance.
The surf was high but the wind was calm. A gorgeous day to be out!
I liked how the sun was shining thru the Fresnel lens of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. One of my favorite things!!
Got LOTS of stuff going on this weekend with the Seafood and Wine Festival, among others... hope you have an awesome weekend!!

Road Trip! Part Seven: The Rocky Mountains

 The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the  Georgetown Loop Railroad .  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride!  I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away.  Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June.  It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up:  The Tetons!

Marshmallow farm?

On the way home from the Tillamook Forest Center last Sunday, Eric stopped the car so I could snap some shots of what looks like a farm that produces giant marshmallows. We watched the machine that wrapped these giant hay bales in white plastic. Why they do this, I don't know. To keep the hay fresh, perhaps? It is kinda fun to picture these things as giant marshmallows, tho.

Agate Windows

The GraceNotes have been busy lately, singing at assisted living facilities around the county. We have a few more gigs coming up and booking plenty more for summer. Woo hoo! Last Sunday we sang at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, where we found the most interesting windows. Unpolished beach agates are embedded in resin sheets and make up these windows. The texture of the resin makes it look like a watercolor painting. Beautiful! By the way, the GraceNotes have a nice new website . Check it out!
