Here, fishy fishy...

I was invited to go salmon fishing yesterday up the river towards Elk City, and it was another awesome day. It rained some but it wasn't cold, and the scenery was, as usual, spectacular.
I reeled in this fish... a 32 lb. chinook hen. She was gorgeous. And tasty. :)
I snagged a coho buck in the middle of the back so we let him go, but not before I got a shot of his hooked beak.

Looks like we'll be out trolling again this afternoon, I hope we get lucky again. The fish were jumping out of the water all around us all day, what an amazing thing to see. Very cool.

Road Trip! Part Seven: The Rocky Mountains

 The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the  Georgetown Loop Railroad .  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride!  I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away.  Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June.  It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up:  The Tetons!

Marshmallow farm?

On the way home from the Tillamook Forest Center last Sunday, Eric stopped the car so I could snap some shots of what looks like a farm that produces giant marshmallows. We watched the machine that wrapped these giant hay bales in white plastic. Why they do this, I don't know. To keep the hay fresh, perhaps? It is kinda fun to picture these things as giant marshmallows, tho.

Agate Windows

The GraceNotes have been busy lately, singing at assisted living facilities around the county. We have a few more gigs coming up and booking plenty more for summer. Woo hoo! Last Sunday we sang at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, where we found the most interesting windows. Unpolished beach agates are embedded in resin sheets and make up these windows. The texture of the resin makes it look like a watercolor painting. Beautiful! By the way, the GraceNotes have a nice new website . Check it out!
