What's Wrong with This Picture?

We all know that 'the kiss' is one of the moments in almost any wedding ceremony that is on 'the list' of 'must take' pictures for the hired photographer, right?

So, can you spot the one thing in all of these pictures that ruin them?







I will admit, some foresighted officiants DO move out of the shot before they tell the couple they can kiss, but I would think it would be something they would all think about. Guess I'm going to have to become more assertive and start instructing them...

    Ouch - you din't have to put MY picture up there, too... I get the hint (and it left a bruise!)

    How about choosing a longer focal length lens and using a shallow depth of field? That picture isn't about the dress or the tux, but about the moment. The faces tell the story. A tight shot could make the officiant a mere blur if he or she is in the frame.

Road Trip! Part Seven: The Rocky Mountains

 The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the  Georgetown Loop Railroad .  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride!  I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away.  Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June.  It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up:  The Tetons!

Marshmallow farm?

On the way home from the Tillamook Forest Center last Sunday, Eric stopped the car so I could snap some shots of what looks like a farm that produces giant marshmallows. We watched the machine that wrapped these giant hay bales in white plastic. Why they do this, I don't know. To keep the hay fresh, perhaps? It is kinda fun to picture these things as giant marshmallows, tho.

Agate Windows

The GraceNotes have been busy lately, singing at assisted living facilities around the county. We have a few more gigs coming up and booking plenty more for summer. Woo hoo! Last Sunday we sang at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, where we found the most interesting windows. Unpolished beach agates are embedded in resin sheets and make up these windows. The texture of the resin makes it look like a watercolor painting. Beautiful! By the way, the GraceNotes have a nice new website . Check it out!
