The Best Friend a Town Ever Had

Was our beloved Mayor, Sharon Branstiter. After some obviously very serious health issues, Mayor Sharon passed away this morning at her home. Godspeed, Sharon. Rest assured your legacy will live on in the 'gardening of a town', and the garden will continue to grow under your watchful eye from above. Thank you for all you have done for Toledo and its people. We all loved you, and we could feel the love pouring from your heart every day, in everything you did. You will be sorely missed.

    Sharon was an honest, no-holds-bar kind of person who cared so much for her community and the townspeople who lived in and around Toledo; she touched so many people and made such a positive impact while she was here.

    Willie and I Loved you Aunt Sharon with all our hearts! We could always count on you to be there for us and give honest advice and opinions. We will miss you more than you would ever have guessed. Thanks for everything you did for us and everyone else around you. The world was a brighter place with you in it!

Road Trip! Part Seven: The Rocky Mountains

 The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the  Georgetown Loop Railroad .  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride!  I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away.  Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June.  It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up:  The Tetons!

Marshmallow farm?

On the way home from the Tillamook Forest Center last Sunday, Eric stopped the car so I could snap some shots of what looks like a farm that produces giant marshmallows. We watched the machine that wrapped these giant hay bales in white plastic. Why they do this, I don't know. To keep the hay fresh, perhaps? It is kinda fun to picture these things as giant marshmallows, tho.

Agate Windows

The GraceNotes have been busy lately, singing at assisted living facilities around the county. We have a few more gigs coming up and booking plenty more for summer. Woo hoo! Last Sunday we sang at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, where we found the most interesting windows. Unpolished beach agates are embedded in resin sheets and make up these windows. The texture of the resin makes it look like a watercolor painting. Beautiful! By the way, the GraceNotes have a nice new website . Check it out!
