A couple of fun things

Sunday afternoon I went with my friend Howard to see Mamma Mia, the musical featuring ABBA songs, and I had the best time watching that movie! The singing was really good, the story was fun and sweet, the scenery spectacular, and it was made for women in my age group. I definitely recommend it.

Last night I had dinner with my friend Amber at Nye Beach's Savory Cafe. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing, the host Chris was charming and sweet, and the food was amazing. I highly recommend it. Plus they have live music coming up in August, featuring one of my favorite local groups, Coin of the Realm, among others. Tell them Amber's friend sent ya.

Chris was telling us he previously worked for Rogue Ales, and shot some promo videos for them... they are on YouTube and they are really very funny.

I'll be helping with the Survivor's Celebration at the Aquarium tonight, cameras in hand. Should be an amazing evening... I'll need to make sure I have some tissues in my pocket. Plenty to do before then, so I'd better get busy! Have a great day!

Road Trip! Part Seven: The Rocky Mountains

 The next couple of days were spent sightseeing in the Rockies with my favorite cousin, Melanie. One major highlight was a ride on the  Georgetown Loop Railroad .  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the scenery was second to none. Click on one of the pictures to enlarge them into a filmstrip view. What a great ride!  I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Denver area. Next, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Cousin Melanie got a shot of a moose; I was too far away.  Great shot, Mel! This was mid-June.  It was fun to see snow and walk around on it, we don't get much here at the Oregon Coast! I put my mom's ashes in the creek in her hometown. I sure do miss her. Next up:  The Tetons!

Marshmallow farm?

On the way home from the Tillamook Forest Center last Sunday, Eric stopped the car so I could snap some shots of what looks like a farm that produces giant marshmallows. We watched the machine that wrapped these giant hay bales in white plastic. Why they do this, I don't know. To keep the hay fresh, perhaps? It is kinda fun to picture these things as giant marshmallows, tho.

Agate Windows

The GraceNotes have been busy lately, singing at assisted living facilities around the county. We have a few more gigs coming up and booking plenty more for summer. Woo hoo! Last Sunday we sang at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, where we found the most interesting windows. Unpolished beach agates are embedded in resin sheets and make up these windows. The texture of the resin makes it look like a watercolor painting. Beautiful! By the way, the GraceNotes have a nice new website . Check it out!
